 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Honouring Survivors & Remembering the Lost 

On September 30, we at Hyundai Pembroke, a proud family-run business, pause to reflect on Canada’s tragic past, honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, and support Survivors, their families, and communities.

This day, known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, reminds us of the ongoing impacts of residential schools on Indigenous peoples and the importance of reconciliation. We also join in observing Orange Shirt Day, symbolizing the stripping away of culture, freedom, and self-esteem that Indigenous children endured. Every Child Matters.

 We encourage all Canadians to wear orange—whether a shirt, necklace, or accessory—as a visible sign of solidarity and support for healing and understanding.

Let’s stand together as a community to honour Survivors and remember those who never made it home. Take a moment today to reflect and consider how we can support reconciliation every day.
