Hyundai Genesis Sedan 2013 Performance & Safety

Performance. Luxury. Sedan. In that order.

When it comes to performance and reliability, it’s tough – very tough – to beat the Genesis. It comes with the incredibly powerful Lamda 3.8L DOHC V6 Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine generating 333 horsepower. If that’s not enough kick, opt for the 429 horsepower 5.0L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) Tau V8 engine.

Taking the power to the road is the 8-speed SHIFTRONIC® automatic transmission with an overdrive lock-up torque converter for improved highway fuel economy and maximum performance.

Complementing the Genesis’ performance is an unparalleled level of safety features.

Standard on all Genesis models is Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control System, a cutting-edge driving stability system designed to sense oversteer and understeer conditions. During unexpected and dangerous situations, it adjusts the braking power of each wheel utilizing the Traction Control System to help restore the driver’s intended course.

And should the unforeseen occur, the Genesis is equipped with eight safety airbags – front dual advanced, two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, two roof-mounted side-curtain airbags and two rear seat-mounted side-impact airbags – to surround its occupants in protection.

Peformance Highlights

Rear-wheel drive traction.

Like other great performance sedans, the Genesis is equipped with rear-wheel drive (RWD). RWD helps balance the force of traction and acceleration on the tires – the front tires are used for cornering traction while the rear tires are used for the acceleration loads.

The Lamda 3.8L DOHC V6 offers 333hp and 291lb.-ft. of torque, as well as a new Variable Intake System (VIS) that helps cylinders breathe efficiently at low and high RPM. The 5.0L Tau V8 delivers an impressive 429* hp.

Added safety of a driving stability system.

Standard on all Genesis models is Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS), a cutting-edge driving stability system designed to sense oversteer and understeer conditions. During unexpected and dangerous situations, it adjusts the braking power of each wheel utilizing the Traction Control System to help restore the driver’s course.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control System (TCS) are meant to enhance conscientious driving habits and are not a substitute for safe driving practices.

Genesis Sedan surrounds occupants in safety.

Equipped with eight airbags – front dual advanced, two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, two roof-mounted side-curtain airbags and two rear seat-mounted side-impact airbags – the Genesis surrounds its occupants in protection.

The Supplemental Restraint (Airbag) System (SRS) is designed to work with the 3-point seatbelt system. The SRS deploys in certain frontal and/or side-impact conditions where significant injury is likely. The SRS is not a substitute for seatbelts, which must still be worn at all times. Children under the age of 13 should be securely restrained in the rear seat. NEVER place a child-seat in the front seat of a Hyundai vehicle.

Easier parking with ultrasonic sensors.

The Genesis is also optionally equipped with eight ultrasonic sensors located on the front and rear bumpers. Accompanied by an audible warning tone, this feature ensures safety when maneuvering into tight parking spots (standard with 3.8L Prem., 3.8L Tech. Package and 5.0L R-Spec)
